Nyete with peanut butter, served with Asida

Nyete Greens with Peanut Butter.

Nyete greens refer to the leaves from the black eyed peas plant (korofo lubia, in Juba Arabic). Nyete is eaten among the Bari speakers of South Sudan, cooked with peanut butter. Nyete is cooked with Kombo, a distilled salt that is not available in many places. We substitute sodium bicarbonate for Kombo. It is eaten with Asida, as pictured above.
